Redlands Fire Department Responds to Kansas Street Apartment Fire

REDLANDS — Redlands firefighters responded to a report of a structure fire at a two-story, four-unit apartment complex in the 00 block of Kansas Street on Wednesday afternoon, June 17.

Crews arrived at approximately 3:18 p.m. and observed heavy smoke coming from a second-floor apartment unit. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and prevented it from spreading to the remaining units within the complex. They remained on scene for approximately four hours for ventilation and overhaul operations.

The occupants of the affected apartment were not home at the time of the fire. Five residents from neighboring units were displaced as a result of the fire, smoke and water damage. One resident sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene before being transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.

The Redlands Police Department provided traffic control during the incident.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
