One Victim Dead in Residential Structure Fire
REDLANDS, Calif. — A 76-year-old man died Sunday following a residential structure fire in the 100 block of Wabash Avenue.
The Redlands Fire Department responded to the single-story home around 5:30 p.m. Arriving crews found the rear of the building engulfed in flames and discovered the victim in the front driveway suffering from severe burns.
Firefighter-paramedics provided advanced life support at the scene before transporting the man to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Crews contained and extinguished the blaze within 20 minutes, preventing the fire from spreading further into the residence. No other injuries were reported.
Firefighters remained on the scene for about an hour to conduct overhaul operations. The San Bernardino County Fire Department provided mutual aid during the incident.
The cause of the fire is currently undetermined. The Redlands Fire Department is leading the investigation in coordination with the Redlands Police Department.
