New Redlands Trail Signage Promotes Fire Safety in Local Canyons
REDLANDS — Redlands Fire Department, the city’s Facilities and Community Services Department, and the nonprofit Redlands Conservancy have launched a joint initiative to promote wildfire safety awareness among residents and visitors using local trails.
City staff and conservancy members designed and installed fire safety awareness signs at trail entrances throughout the Live Oak Canyon and San Timoteo Canyon areas. The project highlights public safety as a shared responsibility when visiting the city's open spaces.
Officials advise trail users to stay aware of local weather conditions, identify alternative evacuation routes, carry adequate water, and report emergency conditions immediately by calling 911.
Project organizers credited Enzo Ruiz and Peter Flores of the Facilities and Community Services Department, along with Sherli Leonard, executive director of the Redlands Conservancy, for leading the sign installation efforts.

Cocomaricopa San Timoteo Trailhead
Creekside East Trailhead
Creekside Mid-Point Trailhead
Canyon Drive
Oakmont Park
Live Oak Canyon (West)
Live Oak Canyon (Center)
Gateway Ranch
City officials are evaluating additional sign locations, including sites in North Redlands.
The initiative is part of broader municipal efforts to expand wildfire preparedness, vegetation management, and community outreach. Residents are encouraged to maintain defensible space around home properties and participate in local safety programs.
