Meals at Redlands’ Public Schools Will Be Served at No Cost to Families

REDLANDS — All Redlands Unified School District students will receive breakfast and lunch at no cost every school day through the California Universal Meals Program, district officials announced.

The state-funded initiative, enacted under Assembly Bill 130, ensures universal meal eligibility across all district campuses without requiring families to complete income applications or pay out-of-pocket costs. District officials noted that participation in the local meal program does not automatically qualify families for federal SUN Bucks benefits.

Breakfast will be available 30 minutes before the start of the school day, as well as during morning elementary recess and morning passing periods at middle and high school campuses. Lunch will be served every school day, including designated minimum days.

In addition to standard school-day service, afterschool meals will be provided to support students participating in campus activities and extended-day programs.

School leaders said the expanded nutrition program aims to reduce financial strain on local families, combat regional food insecurity, and support student health and academic achievement.
