REDLANDS — The University of Redlands men’s soccer team (5-3-4) fell 3-1 to the University of California, Santa Cruz on Friday evening, ending a nine-game unbeaten streak.

Senior Bo Robertson, a Portland, Oregon native, scored the team’s lone goal on Senior Night.

UC Santa Cruz added an insurance goal in the 80th minute to secure the 3-1 outcome.

The Bulldogs outshot the Banana Slugs 20-13 and held a 9-3 advantage in corner kicks, but struggled down the stretch to defend open space and create high-danger chances in the attacking third.

The loss comes on the heels of an Oct. 14 scoreless draw against Chapman, in which Redlands recorded its seventh shutout of the season.

Redlands returns to Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action Wednesday, Oct. 21, hosting Occidental College at 7 p.m. The teams played to a 0-0 draw in Los Angeles 13 days prior.
