Woman suffers burns escaping from residential fire
A woman was transported to the hospital with severe burns suffered after she escaped a structure fire at a mobile home park in the 600 block of Dearborn Street Tuesday morning, Jan. 13.
Two cats died in the fire.
Redlands Firefighters responded to a structure fire in a single-story mobile home shortly before 11 a.m.
The resident, who was inside the home when the fire broke out, escaped prior to the arrival of fire crews and was found sitting on the sidewalk across the street from the residence.
She was treated by paramedics at the scene and transported to the hospital by paramedics and an ambulance crew with non-life-threatening injuries.
The fire quickly extended into the kitchen and living areas of the residence. Firefighters conducted an aggressive fire attack, successfully bringing the fire under control before it could spread to two vehicles parked in the carport or to neighboring mobile homes.
The fire was extinguished within 20 minutes. Damage is estimated at $200,000. The cause is under investigation.
The Redlands Police Department assisted with traffic control and the closure of affected streets.
