Suspect Arrested in Downtown Attempted Vehicular Homicide
Redlands Police, with assistance from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Gang and Narcotic Division and the FBI Fugitive Task Force, arrested a Los Angeles woman Wednesday, Feb. 25, for attempted homicide involving a vehicle, in connection to an incident that left four people seriously injured outside a downtown Redlands bar Sunday.
Police located 20-year-old Solaya Marie Nickleberry, who had been identified as the primary suspect, in Compton on Wednesday. She was arrested without incident.
Witnesses reported an altercation between several people in front of 19 E. Citrus Ave. shortly before 1:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 22. Following the altercation, one of the involved parties, later identified as Nickleberry, got into a 2022 Tesla and drove away west on Citrus Avenue.
A few moments later, Nickleberry turned around and sped back east, striking four people who were standing in the street in front of the bar.
The impact caused Nickleberry to lose control of the vehicle and collide with the curb. At the same time, an unknown suspect fired several gunshots, striking the window of one business and the door of another.
No shooting victims were reported. Four people struck by the Tesla were transported to the hospital with major injuries. One of the victims remains hospitalized.
The vehicle fled west on Citrus Avenue, leaving a trail of leaked fluids. Police recovered it later that night after a witness found it abandoned in a San Bernardino neighborhood.
Nickleberry is being held at West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga for attempted gross vehicular manslaughter in lieu of $800,000 bail.
