No arrests during most recent weekend DUI checkpoint

Redlands Police conducted a DUI checkpoint at 7th Street and Redlands Boulevard Friday, Jan. 9. While not one was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, one person was cited for driving with a suspended license.

A total of 349 vehicles passed through the checkpoint beginning at 6 p.m. Friday through 1 a.m. Saturday.

DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads.

The next DUI checkpoint is scheduled for Feb. 20.

Funding for the checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
