Five Cited or Arrested at DUI Checkpoint

Four people were cited and one arrested during a DUI checkpoint on Friday, Feb. 20.

A total of 461 vehicles were screened during the DUI checkpoint at Brookside Avenue and Eureka Street between 6 p.m. Friday through 1 a.m. Saturday.

Four drivers were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed or with a suspended/revoked license. One driver was arrested for sales of marijuana.

DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads.

Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
