Applicants sought for Human Relations Commission openings

The city of Redlands is accepting applications from qualified Redlands residents interested in serving on the Human Relations Commission. T

he deadline for filing applications is Jan. 28.

 The Human Relations Commission was established to foster peaceful relations among persons of different races and national origins. This commission serves in an advisory capacity to the City Council and to aid the city in achieving better human relations by providing assistance to all persons or groups in promoting good will and better relations among all people.

 The commission consists of seven members with five members each selected from one of the City Council districts and appointed by the council member for the corresponding district. Two members appointed by the City Council shall be from the sophomore or junior class of a Redlands high school or a college student.

The city is accepting applications from residents of City Council District 1 and from college students.

The Human Relations Commission meets quarterly at 6:30 p.m. on the second Monday of March, June, September and December.

Qualified residents interested in applying for a non-paid position on the Human Relations Commission may request application forms from the City Clerk’s Office, City Hall, 35 Cajon St., Suite 4, by phone at (909) 798-7510 or on the City’s website at www.cityofredlands.org/current-openings .
