REDLANDS — The University of Redlands women’s soccer team split its Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) slate this week, with a 3-1 victory over Chapman University on Wednesday, and dropping a 3-0 contest to California Lutheran University on Saturday at Farquhar Field.

The split leaves the Bulldogs at 4-10 overall and 3-6 in conference play.

On Wednesday evening, Redlands had a strong first-half performance, scoring three goals in a 15-minute span to defeat Chapman 3-1. It was the Bulldogs' first win over the Panthers since October 2022.

In the 19th minute, freshman Kate Wagner, of San Jose, gave Redlands a 1-0 lead with her first career goal.

Less than five minutes later another freshman, Claire Lucas, of Tacoma, Washington, shot from just outside the penalty box that clanged off the far post and into the net.

In the 34th minute, sophomore Claire August, of Mountlake Terrace, Washington, flicked a header off a pass from Menifee senior Faith Kasper to make it 3-0.

Chapman outshot Redlands 37-5 overall and 15-3 in shots on goal.

Senior goalkeeper Nicole Immoos, of San Luis Obispo, made 14 saves.

In Saturday morning’s matchup against Cal Lutheran, Redlands started with strong defensive play, with Immoos turning away seven Cal Lutheran shots in the opening 45 minutes to keep the game scoreless at halftime.

The Regals broke the deadlock in the 66th minute when a deflected shot ricocheted off a Redlands defender and past Immoos at the near post. Cal Lutheran would score twice more in the final 24 minutes to close out the 3-0 result.
