U of R’s senior goalkeeper Nicole Immoos prevented nine additional shots from making their mark.

The University of Redlands women’s soccer team kicked off its 2026 campaign with a tough road test Tuesday, dropping a 4-0 contest to nationally ranked No. 6 Pomona-Pitzer.

Despite the loss, Redlands senior goalkeeper Nicole Immoos, of San Luis Obispo, delivered a standout performance between the posts, stopping nine shots to keep the Bulldogs competitive against one of the top-ranked programs in Division III.

How it happened

Redlands tested the Sagehens early in the ninth minute when junior Averie Stunz, of Stanwood, Washington, launched a strike on cage, forcing a save from the Pomona-Pitzer keeper.

Immoos anchored the Bulldog defense through a heavy first-half press, racking up four saves in a six-minute stretch between the 27th and 33rd minutes. She turned away another attempt in the 37th minute before Pomona-Pitzer broke through with the go-ahead goal just over three minutes before halftime.

The Bulldogs pushed for an equalizer immediately after the break. Immoos opened the second half with another save, setting up a transition attack where senior Jessica Chavez, of Cayucos, California, put a quality shot on target, but the Sagehen keeper made the stop.

Pomona-Pitzer capitalized on momentum moments later, extending its lead with a goal in the 48th minute and adding another five minutes later in the 56th minute.

Redlands continued to fight down the stretch, with senior Jaiden Riodil, of Tigard, Oregon, forcing a third save out of the Sagehen defense. Immoos added two more stops late in the period, finishing with nine saves on the afternoon.
