Tryouts and New Hopes for a 4th season
On Sunday, March 29, Redlands FC, a semi-professional soccer club based in Redlands, California, competes in USL League Two (USL2), the fourth tier of the American soccer pyramid. Founded in 2022., hosted tryouts for the new season. The annual tryouts allow hopefuls and returning players to come together to tryout for the team and learn from coach Cody Carlson and from one another.
This year, players arrived from all over, ranging in age from 16 to those in their 30s. Owner Ryan Whiley gave RNC exclusive insight into the fourth season.
“We only play Tucson FC once this year, which is nice; last year we had to play them twice,” Whiley said.
As for new developments, Redlands has new sponsors that will be announced in mid-April for the back of the jersey. Harsh Law is returning as the front-of-jersey sponsor, and a sleeve sponsor will be announced soon. State Street Optometry is sponsoring the warm-up tops, and Alta Vista will be on the sleeve.
“This year is the first year we filled up all our major sponsor spots before the season starts,” Whiley said.
Head coach Cody Carlson told the RNC that the club has a solid foundation from its first three seasons.
“We want to continue with a style of a blend of direct and possession style, so it keeps the opponent on their toes,” Carlson said.
A team roster will be announced soon. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
The first home game is May 30 against City SC San Diego at Dodge Stadium at 7 p.m., with home games June 5, 20, 27, July 2, and 11
