New Gym Opens For Kids On the Spectrum
On Feb. 7, We Rock the Spectrum Kids Gym held its grand opening to many families, kids, and educators who got to experience a unique experience of sensory and physically beneficial activities within a safe, clean, and controlled environment
Owners Steffani and Matt Fisher created the gym at the former Arthur Mutry Dance Studio on Orange Tree Lane as one of many in the country that was founded by Dina Kimmel, CEO and founder of We Rock the Spectrum.
Kimmel opened the first gym in Tarzana, California, after her son was diagnosed with autism, and she struggled to find a safe place where she and her son and her daughter (neurotypical) could hang out together.
The gym offers sensory-safe play for children with autism, special needs, and neurotypical development. It features 12 pieces of therapeutic equipment that address the sensory processing challenges faced by children on the spectrum, while also providing all children with the sensory development necessary for enhanced learning and neurological growth.
Steffani has a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts with a psychology minor, a master’s degree in special education, and holds credentials as a level II educational specialist in moderate to severe education.
