REDLANDS — Artist Christine Curry will be the featured exhibitor at the Redlands Art Association Gallery from Sept. 5 through Oct. 2, showcasing a selection of her oil paintings and portraits.
An artist’s reception is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 12, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the gallery.
Born in Los Angeles and raised in Redlands, Curry discovered her passion for drawing early in life. She initially planned to pursue a career in animation or comic book illustration before discovering acrylic painting during high school.

At 19, Curry painted her first large-scale public work at the Frugal Frigate Children’s Bookstore in downtown Redlands. The project launched her professional career, leading to public and private commissions across Southern California. Her clientele has included the cities of Redlands and Riverside, Loma Linda University, Trader Joe’s, the Armand Hammer Museum, and numerous regional businesses, schools, and private residences.
Curry earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles in 2007, studying under renowned artists including Kent Twitchell, Peter Zokosky, and Suzanne Lacy. During her career, she assisted Twitchell in restoring two of his iconic Los Angeles freeway murals and worked alongside an art conservator to restore an Alfredo Ramos Martinez fresco at the Coronado Public Library — experiences that heavily shaped her technical approach to oil painting and mural preservation.

Drawing inspiration from her local environment, Curry uses a blend of classical and contemporary techniques to capture realism across portraits, still lifes, and regional landscapes.
The Redlands Art Association Gallery is located at 215 E. State St. in downtown Redlands. Operating hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
