REDLANDS — The Redlands Area Historical Society will host a Halloween morning walking tour titled "Red Death in the Red City" on Saturday, Oct. 31, exploring the city's history as a 19th-century tubercular colony.
Led by tour guides John P. and Kathleen Beall, the 1.5-hour tour examines local history surrounding the tuberculosis pandemic, including unorthodox treatments, electrotherapy, sanitariums, and hidden camps.
Registration begins at 9 a.m. in front of the 1920s mausoleum at Hillside Memorial Park, 1540 Alessandro Rd., with the tour starting at 9:30 a.m.
Participants are advised to wear comfortable walking shoes. Tickets are $10 for historical society members and $15 for non-members.
